Anticipating the Promise of God
Advent and Christmas 2016
November 27, 2016 - January 1, 2017
January 1, 2017 - Second Sunday of Christmas
"The Journey of Great Anxiety"
The New Year is beginning with a lot of unknowns, some of them exciting, some of them more than a little terrifying. Not knowing creates anxiety, and when we get anxious, we become a little like caged animals - we cannot find a way out, which increases the anxiety. Jesus' parents have a very anxious moment in our text today and the story also gives us some helpful ways of navigating the anxiety of the age.
No PDF this week; just the audio.
Peace and grace this New Year! Pastor Seth

December 24, 2016 - Christmas Eve
"A Sign For You"
Our Christmas Eve service is always one of my favorites. The music and carols, the lessons, the candlelight - all of it speak to the true light of Christ coming into the world. Thank you to everyone in our church who made the evening possible, and thank you to all who attended. It was a beautiful service. I have provided the entire audio of the service below.
Enjoy! And blessings to you as Christmas continues for the next 12 days!
Peace and Grace! Pastor Seth.

December 18, 2016 - Welcoming
"Welcoming: A Place for the Stranger"
Scripture: Luke 1:26-49
How do we welcome the stranger, the Other, the unknown? The Holy Family - Mother Mary, Joseph, and Jesus - are the example for what welcoming looks like.
Join us for our Christmas Eve service at 6pm on December 24th, and on Christmas Morning for our Pajama Communion Service at 9AM.
I have included the full service for Sunday, and just the sermon.
Listen below, read above.

December 11, 2016 - Advent 3 - Wondering
"A State of Wonder; God's Kingdom of Wondering"
Scripture - Isaiah 61:1-11
Advent and Christmas are intended to be a time of Wonder and curiosity. Even though we have heard the story so many times, every year God calls us to reflect on the new life that is coming into the world. How do we remain open to asking more and better questions, rather than being satisfied with the answers we have received? I believe this is what Advent calls us to do -
wait in wonder.
Christmas Eve is on Saturday, December 24th, and we will celebrate with our traditional Candlelight Service. Join us at 6PM!
Peace and blessings this season of waiting, watching, and welcoming! Pastor Seth

December 4, 2016 - Advent 2 - Watching
"Watching God, Watching Ourselves"
Scripture- Joel 2:12-13, 28-29; Luke 11:9-13
Watching for God is so freighted with cultural and personal expectations, it can be very hard to see clearly. Scripture provides some help as we navigate this time of waiting, watching, wondering and welcoming. Join us as we follow the path of anticipation and expectation of the coming of Christ into the world. On the main page, I have posted the schedule for Advent and Christmas.
We hope to see you! Peace and grace. Pastor Seth
