The Psalms and Our Life With God
09/04/2016 - Psalms of New Life and Reorientation
Scripture: Psalms 133, 146, 150
We finish our journey through the Psalms this week. Once we have come through the disorientation where all our assumptions, ideas, and worldviews have come apart, how does God reorient us to a life lived deeply within His loving embrace?
Next week, we start a new way of following Scripture through the year by using the Narrative Lectionary, created by some of my professors at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN.
In the meantime, enjoy the PDF above or/and the audio below.
Peace and grace, Pastor Seth Jones

08/28/2016 - Psalms of Disorientation: Psalm 22 and The Stories We Live
Scripture: Psalm 22
We continue our discussion of the Lament Psalms and focus on Psalm 22, since Jesus quotes it from the Cross. Psalm 22 presses us forward into the Psalms of New Life, which we will talk about next week. Peace and blessings to each of you! Pastor Seth

08/14/2016 - Psalms of Disorientation: Why, God? Why?
Scripture: Psalm 22, 44, 69
The Lament Psalms are the most common of the 150 Psalms. If you are concerned that you complain when you pray, that sometimes you might hold other people or even God responsible for what is happening, that there may be no resolution forthcoming, even though you have faith or struggle with your faith, then the Psalms - right in the middle of our Scripture - will speak directly to you. The PDF and audio are available this week.
Peace and blessings to all! Pastor Seth

08/07/2016 - Psalms of Orientation: Creation Pointing to God
Scripture: Psalms 8, 104, 46
Today, we consider how God is present in Creation itself.
The Psalms offer some alternative ways of thinking about our place in God's creation, which expand our understanding from the story(ies) in Genesis.
The sermon is in PDF above and you can listen to the audio just below.

07/31/2016 -- ASK THE PASTOR Sunday
On 5th Sundays, sometimes, we do an "Ask the Pastor" Sunday, where I take written and spoken questions from the congregation. It is tremendous fun. This time, I received some excellent questions. People are willing to tolerate a longer service for this, so today's audio is about 40 minutes long. Enjoy!
Peace to all. Pastor Seth

07/17/2016 - Psalms of Orientation: Orienting our lives toward God
Scripture: Psalms 1, 37, 131
This week, we begin a series on the Psalms, which is the Prayer Book of the Hebrew people. We will look for clues for how we turn our lives toward God and how they point us toward Christ.
Peace and blessings to all!
