12/28/2014 -- Christmas 1 - "Light from Darkness"
Scripture: Isaiah 61:10-62:3; Galatians 4:4-7; Luke 2:22-36
This first Sunday after Christmas is a time of letting the light that has come into the world to begin to illuminate our souls and our lives. So that is what our hymns, readings and sermon explored this morning. We tried to understand the new life of Christ from the perspective of Simeon and the possibilities of fulfillment through our faith lives.

Peace to all!

12/24/2014 -- Christmas Eve: God Expects to Be With Us
We had a beautiful Christmas Eve service, even though it was dark, windy and pouring rain. Many people came out anyway to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. One of my favorite parts of the service is our Moravian Candle Lighting ceremony. The lights go down and the only light are the candles held up by the congregation. It is very moving.
With the candles lit, we sing "Silent Night, Holy Night".
I hope, if you weren't able to be with us this year, that you will be able to be with us next year. I have included the entire service below. If you just want to listen to the sermon, it occurs at about 46 minutes into the recording.

11/30/14 -- Advent 1: The Presence of God
Today we begin Advent. Advent is a time of waiting, expectation. It is also a time of recognizing that we do not know how God will be present with us. So much of our faith life is defined by what we do know, but God often presents himself to us in ways we cannot know or do not understand.
That is what I love about the Christian Way. It does not shy away from darkness, the unknown. In those places, God will do a new thing.
