The Seventh Sunday of Easter - May16, 2021
"The Sanctification of Mind, Body, and Soul" - Rev. Seth D. Jones
Scripture: 1 John 5:1-6; John 15:9-17
Sanctification is a big word that means our deepening relationship and formation in the Holy Spirit through our lives. It is a statement about time and how we move through time in our lives. Once we talk about time in terms of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, we are talking about Timeless, Timely, and Time-full things.

The Sixth Sunday of Easter - May 9, 2021
"The Mirror of Friendship" - Rev. Seth D. Jones
Scripture: Acts 10:44-48 • Psalm 98 • 1 John 5:1-6 • John 15:9-17
Friendship is the highest order of love throughout the history of philosophy. Christianity puts a very high value on friendship, in large part because Jesus says in John 15, "I no longer call you servants; I now call you Friends". It is a revolutionary statement, and we explore it today.

"Someone to Guide Me" - Rev. Seth D Jones
Scripture: Acts 8:26-40; 1 John 4:7-21; John 15:1-8
Today, we dealt with some challenging issues as we explored Philip's encounter with the Ethiopian Eunuch.
I was directly inspired for this sermon by my colleague and friend, Rev. (and future Dr.) Craig Hadley, of Paradox Church in Redlands, California. Thank you, Craig!
We don't have the whole service this week, just the sermon.
I have linked the written text above and the video is below.

"Drawing All People to Jesus" - Rev. Seth D. Jones
Scripture: Jeremiah 31:31-34; Hebrews 5:7-9; John 12:21-33
This morning, we recognize the last Sunday of Lent. We were blessed to have April Reed-Cox with us this morning. She is a cellist with the Bay Chamber School, the Bangor Symphony Orchestra, and several folk bands in the area.
As we enter into Holy Week next week, we prepare ourselves by Jesus' call to listen closely and remember that God is with us.

The Fourth Sunday of Lent - March 14, 2021
"The Communion of Saints - The Community of the Quick and the Dead" - Rev. Seth D Jones
Scripture: Ephesians 2:1-10; John 3:14-21
The most quoted verse for Christians in the bible is John 3:16. It is unlikely that most of us know the other verses that surround it and the context of the verse. Once we find the context, the whole verse becomes even more interesting. Snakes, vaccines, egregores, and fiery serpents all make an appearance today.
I have also written the sermon out and it is available above as a PDF.
Enjoy the video as well!

The Third Sunday of Lent - March 7, 2021
"The Value of the Holy Fool" - Rev Seth D Jones
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 1:18-25; John 2:13-22
Jesus tears it up today outside on the Temple steps. He makes some whips and starts in on the money-changers and the animal sellers. He is pretty upset. It is also incredibly foolish to do such a thing. But being foolish and outrageous for the sake of the Kingdom of God has a rich tradition stretching all the back to the Prophets, and forward from Jesus into many characters of faith even into our time.
Enjoy the video!
Thank you to Paul Whiton for singing while I played the guitar in "People Get Ready".

"Multitudes of Nations" - Rev. Seth D. Jones
Scripture: Genesis 17:1-7, 15-16 • Psalm 22:23-31 • Romans 4:13-25 • Mark 8:31-38
Last weekend, we had multiple technology failures so there is no video from that day.
This week, though, we continued our exploration of the nature of community in relationship to faith.
We focused in on the promises God makes with Abraham early in Genesis.
The video is below and this week, the sermon is available as well. See above for it.
