02/08/2015 -- Fifth Sunday of Epiphany - "Light from Darkness: The Fever Breaks"
Scripture: Isaiah 40:21-31; Mark 1:29-39
This week, I retold the Gospel reading from the perspective of Simon's mother-in-law. If preaching is anything, it is a storytelling form. So this is a story about strength and healing and hope and Jesus. Enjoy the PDF and the audio. Peace to all!

02/01/2015 -- Fourth Sunday of Epiphany - "Light from Darkness: Care and Compassion"
Scripture: 1 Cor 8; Mark 1:21-28
Servant-leadership was a big movement in the late 1980s and 1990s in the business world. I had the good fortune to be exposed to some of the successful CEOs who implemented such models in their companies back then. The model begins with the care and compassion of Christ. Servant-leadership has some theological issues with it, as do most attempts to make a system out of the life of Jesus, but the insights are valuable and helpful. We explore some of those insights today.

01/25/2015 -- Third Sunday of Epiphany - "Light from Darkness: The Nearness of God"
Scripture: Jonah 3:1-10; Mark 1:14-20
Jonah is my favorite prophet. He is so human and, I think if many of us were honest, mirrors most of our relationships with God. He forgets a lot about his relationship with God, though. Just like we do. Plus, St. Patrick makes an appearance. The PDF is my mind-map. Audio is below.

01/18/2015 - Second Sunday of Epiphany - "Light from Darkness: Washed, Sanctified, Justified"
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 6:11-20; John 1:43-50
Today, we dealt with identity issues, which can be very difficult to handle. Paul has a difficult time with the Corinthians and eventually gets in trouble with them. One of the disciples, Nathaniel, also has some issues with identity. And so do we.
All the ways to access are available this week.
Peace!

01/11/2015 -- The Baptism of Christ -- "Light from Darkness: Creation and Formation"
Scripture: Genesis 1:1-5; Acts 19:1-7; Mark 1:4-11
The baptism of Christ by John in the River Jordan is a model for us as well. We are baptized because Jesus was baptized. We look at our baptism from the perspective of the very first act of Creation, and from the perspective of being formed by God through our baptism.

01/04/2015 -- Epiphany Sunday -- "Light from Darkness: Looking Forward"
This is the first Sunday of Epiphany, which means 'to make present', or 'to reveal'. The season of Epiphany is when we explore how Jesus reveals himself to be the Son of God and is represented most clearly by the story of the Wise Ones from the East coming to visit the baby Jesus.
