05/01/2016 - Sixth Sunday of Easter
"What Do You Really Want?" - Rev Seth D Jones
Scripture: Rev 21:10, 22:1-5; John 5:1-9
Jesus asks the man at the Pool of Bethesda, "Do you want to get well?"
Another way to ask that question is, "What do you really want?"
We look at what might get in the way of answering that question.
Enjoy!

04/10/2016 - Third Sunday of Easter
"Breakfast with Jesus" - Rev. Seth D Jones
Scripture: Psalm 30; Rev 5:11-19; John 21:1-19
Our Scripture readings for today show us that Resurrection and our experience with Jesus happens in the simple and mundane places of our lives. We are not doing this to escape the physical world, the human experience, the messy relationships between ourselves and others, between ourselves and Creation.
We do this to experience the transformation Jesus brings in this place, here and now, with whomsoever we may be with at the moment.
PDF is posted above, and audio is below.
Peace and Resurrection blessings to all! Pastor Seth

04/03/2016 - Second Sunday of Easter
"Receiving the Holy Spirit Slowly"
Scripture: Revelation 1:4-8; John 20:19-31
Today, we talked about the moment when Jesus breathes the Holy Spirit upon the disciples and what it means to receive the Holy Spirit slowly, throughout a lifetime. I described it as an "increasing awareness over time of the presence of God". The example I used came from St. Francis of Assisi and his relationship with the creatures of the earth.
I also suggested that we read the story of Thomas as one of how we include others into the life of the church, that Thomas is a story about inclusion and community as much or more than a story of belief and unbelief.
Unfortunately, the audio microphone failed yesterday, so the only record is the mind-map I created for the sermon. I have posted it to the left.
Peace and grace to all this Resurrection season. Pastor Seth

03/20/2016 -- PALM SUNDAY
"Running Down a Dream" -- Rev. Seth D. Jones Scripture: Philippians 2:5-11; Luke 19:28-40 Today is Palm Sunday, when we celebrate Jesus' triumphant entrance into Jerusalem...on a donkey...with a rag-tag bunch of followers. What does it mean, and why would he do this? Hopefully, we get closer to answering that question with today's message. The song title comes from one of my favorite rock artists, Tom Petty. The sermon is in PDF above, and audio below. Peace to all! Pastor Seth |
